Market update

25th March 2020

As the Coronavirus outbreak continues and governments around the world implement strict rules on both individuals and companies, things can feel scary or, at best, unsettling.

COVID-19 dominates TV news, radio and newspapers and is the only topic of conversation when you speak to people.

The sense of fear also applies to financial markets which have been subject to big falls in a very short period of time.

So, it is natural to worry about your investment or pension, but it’s also important to remember that the world will recover from this, and the stock market will too.

Vanguard have produced a very useful chart of “bull” and “bear” markets in history which again should give some reassurance about a global recovery. You can download this here:

We have seen a significant bounce in markets this week as the US government agreed a huge financial support package and measures like this will help individuals and companies when they need it most.

We are classed as one of the essential services so will remain accessible to you throughout this time and look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future.

In the meantime, if you need to speak to your adviser, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
